Sustainability of Improvements
The improvements made through our PE and Sport Premium funding are intended to have a lasting impact on the quality of PE, sport and physical activity at Farington Primary School and to benefit children joining the school in future years.
We have prioritised spending that builds the knowledge, skills and confidence of our staff, rather than creating reliance on external providers. Staff have opportunities to develop their professional knowledge through CPD, coaching, team teaching and sharing good practice. This increased capacity will remain within school and will continue to support the delivery of high-quality PE and physical activity beyond the period of the funding.
Our PE curriculum, planning and assessment approaches are reviewed regularly and are embedded within our wider school improvement processes. Equipment and resources purchased through the funding will continue to be used by successive cohorts of children, providing long-term benefit.
We will continue to promote regular physical activity through our PE curriculum, active play, extra-curricular opportunities, competitions and participation in wider sporting events. We have also established a number of partnerships and links that provide sustainable opportunities for children to participate in sport and physical activity, including:
Active Schools South Ribble, through our partnership with South Ribble Borough Council, providing opportunities for children to participate in inter-school competitions, festivals and wider sporting activities.
Lancashire Cricket, supporting the development of cricket skills and providing children with opportunities to experience and participate in cricket through school-based sessions and wider sporting opportunities.
Tri Kidz, providing opportunities for children to develop their skills, confidence and enjoyment across different areas of physical activity.
Continued participation in local competitions, festivals and sporting events, ensuring that children have opportunities to represent the school and experience competitive and inclusive sport.
These established relationships help to ensure that opportunities created through our PE and Sport Premium investment can continue to develop and benefit future cohorts of children.
The impact of our PE and Sport Premium spending will continue to be monitored through lesson observations, staff feedback, pupil voice, participation levels and assessment information. This will allow us to identify future priorities and ensure that improvements are maintained and developed over time.
Where funding is no longer available, the school will seek to embed successful approaches within our core provision and wider school improvement planning, prioritising those approaches that have demonstrated the greatest impact. The knowledge and expertise developed by staff, resources purchased and partnerships established will therefore continue to support high-quality PE, sport and physical activity for children in future years.
