Our First Week in Year 1!

What a wonderful first week in Year 1! We've had so much fun, explored our creativity, and embraced lots of independent learning. A brilliant start to the year!

Fantastic Puppets!

As part of our DT unit, Year 1 have been busy making their very own puppets!

The children worked so hard on their sewing skills, showing great focus and creativity. We're so proud of their fabulous finished products - take a look at their amazing work!

🎡 Music Through the Decades – Year 1 2010 Pop! 🎀

This week, Year 1 have been having so much fun during Music Through the Decades Week! We’ve been exploring the sounds of 2010s Pop music, and our classroom has been full of rhythm, sparkle and smiles.

The children have:
✨ Learned all about pop music from the 2010s
🎨 Drawn amazing pictures of their favourite artists
πŸ’« Made their own sparkly pop star wands
πŸ’ƒ Danced along to some Bruno Mars hits
⭐ And even created their very own pop star names!

Year 1 Create Their Own Pictograms in Computing!

Year 1 children took their first steps into the world of data handling. The class worked together to collect information, organise it, and present it using a pictogram.

Once all the information had been collected, the children used digital tools to input their data and create a pictogram. They learned how pictograms help us to see patterns quickly, compare amounts, and communicate information clearly.

The class were very proud of their colourful and easy-to-read results! This hands-on activity not only developed their Computing skills, but also supported their mathematical understanding of counting and comparison.

Well done, Year 1! πŸ‘πŸ“Š

🌺 Remembrance Day 🌺

This week, Year 1 took part in thoughtful activities to learn about Remembrance Day and the importance of the poppy. The children wrote their own simple remembrance poems, decorated poppy biscuits, and painted beautiful poppy field landscapes. ✍️πŸͺ🎨

We are so proud of their creativity and respectful understanding. Well done, Year 1! πŸŒΊπŸ‘

Children in Need! πŸ’›πŸ»

Year 1 had a fantastic day celebrating Children in Need! The children took part in a range of fun and active challenges to help raise awareness and support this important cause.

We began the day with our 25-pose yoga challenge, where the children showed amazing balance, strength and determination. πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈβ
They then used their artistic skills to paint bright and cheerful pictures of Pudsey Bear, each one full of colour and creativity. 🎨🐻
