Pupil Premium Information
The Pupil Premium is funding in addition to the school’s budget and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years (known as ‘Ever 6 FSM’). Schools are free to decide how to allocate this funding to best support their pupils.
Free School Meals
Many children are entitled to a free school meal as a result of the financial circumstances at home. It is quite common for people to not claim due to thinking that they wouldn’t qualify, but especially so since the Government introduced the Infant Free School Meals Scheme. However, by claiming, the school receives additional funding to support your child.
To apply, or have any questions answered, call 01772 531 809. Alternatively, you can email FSM.South@lancashire.gov.uk and they will guide you through the process. You will need your National Insurance number. The qualification criteria are listed below. If your application is successful, school will then arrange for your vouchers to be sent out.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q – My child already receives free school meals as he/she is in the infants – why should I apply?
Whilst your child currently receives a Free School Meal through the Government Infant Meals Scheme, it is important to claim as school receives a significant amount of extra funding which can be spent on your child’s education. From time to time, we also use some of this funding to subsidise educational visits and provide other opportunities for your child.
Q – Do I have to apply for each child?
Yes – if you already have one child receiving free school meals, you will need to apply again for siblings.
Q – How can I check whether I am entitled?
Your child may be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:
Universal Credit with a household income of less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
Income-Based Jobseekers’ Allowance
Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance
Child Tax Credit, not entitled to Working Tax Credit and household income less than £16,190
Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
Income Support
Working Tax Credit ‘run on’ – the payment you receive for a further four weeks after you finish work.
