Because Mental Health Matters: How Our Ambassadors Are Making a Difference
Here at Farington Primary, we believe that emotional wellbeing is just as important as academic success. That’s why we’re so proud of our Mental Health Ambassadors – a group of dedicated children from Years 2 to 5 who are helping to make our school a kinder, more compassionate place for everyone.
Our Mental Health Ambassadors are specially chosen individuals who take on the important role of promoting mental health awareness across the school. They have received training to help them understand the importance of looking after our emotional wellbeing and are always ready to offer a kind word, a listening ear, or a friendly smile.
What Do Mental Health Ambassadors Do?
Promote Positive Mental Health: The ambassadors help to raise awareness of mental health by helping adults lead assemblies, supporting special themed days such as Children’s Mental Health Week, and sharing practical tips for wellbeing through posters, newsletters, and class visits.
Be There for Others: As trusted peers, they are available to talk to other children who might be feeling sad, lonely, or worried. They listen without judgment and encourage others to seek help from adults when needed.
Lead by Example: Our ambassadors model positive behaviours such as kindness, respect, and empathy. They are role models who show that looking after each other’s mental health is something we all have a part to play in.
Create a Supportive School Environment: Working with our Mental Health First Aid staff, they help to ensure that all children feel safe, valued, and included. They share ideas for making the playground more welcoming, classrooms calming, and breaktimes more inclusive.
Why It Matters
By giving children the opportunity to be part of this important initiative, we’re helping them to develop emotional intelligence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of social responsibility. More importantly, we’re reminding everyone in our school community that it’s okay to talk about how we feel and that no one has to struggle alone.
We are incredibly proud of our Mental Health Ambassadors and the positive impact they are having throughout the school. With their help, we are nurturing a culture where kindness, understanding, and emotional wellbeing are part of everyday life.

They will also highlight the brilliant efforts of our children in their ambassador roles, where they take on key responsibilities and lead on important areas such as wellbeing, inclusion and pupil voice.
Each edition will showcase:

Updates from our ambassadors about their latest projects and achievements.
Tips and resources to support mental wellbeing at home.
We are incredibly proud of how our children lead and inspire others through their roles. These newsletters are a wonderful way to celebrate their hard work and keep you connected to the values that make our school community so special.
